The Affected Provincial

About

Victor Allen Crawford III (aka Lord Breaulove Swells Whimsy) is an author, artist, failed dandy, bushwhacking aesthete, parenthetical naturalist, and a middle-aged dilettante.

He wrote, designed, and illustrated The Affected Provincial's Companion, Volume One (Bloomsbury 2006), which has been optioned for film by Johnny Depp's production company, Infinitum Nihil. He has appeared in The New York Times, Interview, Frieze, Tin House, and Art in America.



He and his wife are proprietors of Plankton Art Co., an illustration and design studio established in 1996. Their work has been exhibited in The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, and their 400 illustrations of sea creatures are on permanent display at the American Museum of Natural History's Milstein Hall of Ocean Life in New York.

A devotee of both nature and culture, he divides his time between Philadelphia, New York, and the Pine Barrens of Southern New Jersey. He smells like outside.
